Asphaltwelten by go plastic company german version

Slide In 2020/21 the go plastic company is doing artistic research on the subject of shelter in public spaces. The project „Asphaltwelten" deals in three different formats with thematic aspects, thesis and values, and also the societal perception of the life on the streets, its challenges, deprivations and demands. In various artistic constellations, the company collaborates in those three parts with different partners and drafts interdisciplinary performance formats in and for the public space, to look at the subject from different angles. The trilogy about a life without a roof over ones head shall challenge and open up, should be experienced and will last. The go plastic company, based in Dresden (Germany) works as a free collective on diverse performance projects with the focus on dance and movement for performance spaces and, in this project for the first time, in and for the public space in this size. The artistic constellations vary for conceptual reasons and allow us to conquer new areas. by go plastic Asphaltwelten

Spring/Summer 2020 we explored our first try outs, choreography- and body-wise in the urban space for ASPHALTWELTEN. We searched for diverse areas in Dresden, concored, used and installed our bodies in motion. Meanwhile we produced three different videoclips, will be released one after another until summer of 2021.

Part1 May / September, October 2021 Part 3 The third and final part of „Asphaltwelten“ by go plastic company deals with the subject of „shelter & life on the streets“. This last part works on the artistic thesis of a utopia: a group that renounces social stability and security: a life without walls, without assurance, without
ties. The body as the (only) home. Regardless of origin, orientation and opinion. A throwing together of biographies on public but “neutral” ground. How do we perceive and design our own “artistic shelter”? How far does it go; does it only include me or does it include others? How can I carry it, support it, take it with me and share it?
In this final work, the go plastic collective processes and reflects on the discourses that have arisen and been held over the entire project period (2020-2021) on the topics of shelter, life and art on the street, bodies in public space and their perception(s). The aim is to create a participatory tableau which unites and narrates the collected theses, conclusions and findings in all their complexity, diversity and contradictions.

August 2nd - September 26th Part 1 In its first part on the theme of shelter and life on the street, the go plastic company works on an experimental arrangement of bodies in public space and the production of exceptional moments. The Main Street becomes a stage on which worlds collide.  The trilogy kicked off with a cooperation with the Societaetstheater Dresden. The installation-based and interactive performance was developed on Hauptstraße (Main Street) in Dresden.

We behave /act /conduct ourselves in public spaces every day. We walk, stand, sit, stop and pass by. We know the rules. They are not written anywhere, unspoken but not unknown.
What do we allow ourselves?
What do we allow others?
Who are we to judge?
Where and how do we place our bodies in public spaces?
How do we reclaim, re-use and recapture?

Hauptstraße Dresden.
Between April 01 and 18, 2021, the go plastic collective embarked on a virtual and analog research trip for the second part of the series. In the cities of Dresden, Leipzig, Budapest, Bratislava, Vienna, Prague, Usti n.l. and Rehlovice, artistic materials were designed, tested and publicly shared in the form of short residencies together with local artists. Together, a performance score was set in the form of cinematic interventions in public space, connecting all cities along the way.

Thematically, the second part negotiates life outside: what environment do we seek and create for ourselves? Nomadism as a (super)way of life: opening up and occupying new, half-finished, broken, ruined, free, preserved spaces. Always on the move, always looking for the "right" shelter, always temporary.
